⚓ Eyehasseen Royal Navy

“Steadfast on the Waters, Sovereign in the Spray”

Though Eyehasseen is not, strictly speaking, a coastal power, the Eyehasseen Royal Navy has long patrolled the waterways, rivers, glens, and ceremonial lakes of the Kingdom with distinction, decorum, and a readiness to deploy bunting at a moment’s notice.

Established in Year 634 by Royal Decree following the Great Pond Incursion, the Navy has since become a symbol of Eyehasseen’s enduring maritime imagination and tactical tidiness.

🚢 Purpose and Practice

The Navy’s duties include:

  • Guarding the Royal Waters of Lake Saint Aurelia and all nationally significant puddles
  • Escorting dignitaries by barge during Floating Parades and Aquatic Pageants
  • Maintaining the Ceremonial Fleet, which includes three rowboats, a stately barque, and a floating teahouse
  • Upholding naval dignity during harbor-side receptions, dock inspections, and stern glances from the pier

🪝 The Fleet

The Royal Navy consists of:

  • HMS Audacity – The flagship; a two-mast cutter known for its brass fixtures and irreproachable crew
  • HMS Goodwill – The official hospitality vessel, equipped with samovar and quiet books
  • HMS Unseen Hedge – Employed for clandestine duties and occasional fishing
  • The Queen’s Punt – Reserved exclusively for moonlit crossings and poetic gestures

All vessels fly the Standard of the Sea Sovereign, a navy-and-ivory ensign featuring the Eyehasseen crest encircled by droplets and compass points.

⚓ Naval Culture

The Royal Navy is proud of its traditions, including:

  • The Morning Bell and Posture Check
  • The Annual Reading of the Ship Names Registry (even the retired ones)
  • The Quiet Oath of the Deckhands (spoken only in fog)
  • The Solemn Refolding of the Wet Weather Flag

Officers are addressed as “Seafarer” regardless of rank, except in dry conditions, where “Sir” or “Madam” is acceptable.

🌊 Recruitment and Honour

Those wishing to enlist must:

  • Recite the Mariner’s Creed from memory or convincing approximation
  • Demonstrate competence with rope, knot, and nautical storytelling
  • Undergo a Trial Row, judged not on speed, but narrative flourish

Decorations include the Medal of Glistening Bravery, the Anchor of Good Intentions, and the coveted Compass of Reasonable Navigation.

Should Eyehasseen’s shores be tested, the Royal Navy shall rise—not necessarily in aggression, but certainly in appearance.

“Let no wake go uncurled, nor a vessel sail unblessed.”
