🔋 Energy Office

Ministry of the Interior | Kingdom of Eyehasseen
“Powering the Realm through Sun, Steam, Wind, and Wisdom.”

📘 Overview

The Energy Office (EO) is the government body within the Ministry of the Interior charged with coordinating, regulating, and developing the Kingdom’s energy infrastructure and resource strategy. From windmill districts and public hearth networks to early dynamos, waterwheels, and experimental radiant-candle systems, the Energy Office works to ensure the safe, reliable, and sustainable use of power throughout the Realm.

Founded in 1970 in the wake of the Kingdom Illumination Mandate, the EO unites ancient techniques with emerging technologies—evaluating everything from candle wax import quotas to speculative lightning-in-a-bottle trials.

⚙️ Mission & Responsibilities

Power Distribution & Utility Oversight

  • Management of the Municipal Power Couriers, who deliver fire, light, and boiler pressure to districts as needed
  • Regulation of public and private energy conduits—from shared fuel celleries to central heat towers
  • Maintenance of the Lantern Grid, including seasonal lamplighting rotations and enchanted beacon stations

Resource Assessment & Stewardship

  • Oversight of energy sources:
    • Wind (mills, sails, bellows)
    • Water (wheels, pressure reservoirs)
    • Wood and charcoal (managed by the NPFS)
    • Bio-wax, oil presses, and low-grade arc-stone containment
  • Forecasting seasonal energy availability and advising on conservation measures

Innovation & Experimental Power

  • Evaluation of alternative and alchemical energy sources, including etheric coils, stored resonance, and minor rune-reactive fuels
  • Certification of low-risk experiments in radiant vapor storage and kinetic-lantern arrays
  • Interagency cooperation with the Gnuclear Regulatory Agency for any suspected pre-gnuclear materials or glowing anomalies

🧑‍💼 Leadership

Director of Energy and Applied Illumination
Ignatius Brode, M.P.

  • Former steward of the Eastern Windworks Cooperative
  • Advocates for cross-discipline efficiency: “Any good system begins with firewood and ends with restraint.”
  • Keeper of the Royal Meter Key, which once powered the entire Hall of Theories for 17 minutes

Deputy for Natural Power & Field Efficiency
Seren Amblin, Chief Engineer (Wind & Stream)

  • Leads research into waterwheel cluster theory, windbelt optimization, and scroll-insulated boiler tanks

Coordinator of Candlelight Services & Public Flame
Sr. Petronella Lamprey

  • Maintains public torchlines, coordinates communal heating squares, and oversees the Festival of Lanterns

⚡ Current Projects & Priorities

  • Expansion of the Windmill Spine Network in the Western Bluffs
  • Completion of the Canal-Tide Kinetic Project, bringing waterwheel power to three new settlements
  • Publication of the Citizen’s Guide to Home Efficiency: “Don’t Burn Bright, Burn Long”
  • Launch of the Resonance and Etheric Safety Taskforce, a collaboration with the Ministry of Truth

🛠️ Services for Citizens

  • Energy ration vouchers and allocation schedules (distributed during dry spells and deep winter)
  • Public hearth inspection and chimney certification
  • Requests for light infrastructure expansion (public lanterns, heat posts, boiler hubs)
  • Reports of blackouts, power irregularities, and spontaneous glowing

⚠️ Advisory Notice

All private experiments involving stored steam, humming copper, or “mildly radiant stones” must be registered with the Office and inspected within 7 days.
Unauthorized glow-generators may be subject to confiscation, ridicule, or repurposing.
