📘 Overview
The Office of Port & Tollgate Management (OPTM) oversees the day-to-day operation, ceremonial function, and regulatory oversight of Eyehasseen’s ports, gates, crossings, causeways, tollhouses, ferry docks, and border arches. From the high gates of Tiermoor to the modest plank docks of Mistcove, OPTM ensures that every entry, passage, and crossing is managed with precision, flair, and the correct number of lanterns.
Originally created under the Pathways & Piers Act of 1949, the Office manages both practical passage and symbolic thresholds, preserving the beauty and dignity of the Kingdom’s gateways while collecting modest tolls and delivering very fine stamps.
🚪 Points of Management
🏰 Tollgates & Road Crossings
- Operate staffed tollhouses at major intersections and fairground routes
- Enforce the Three-Sack Carriage Rule (no more than three sacks without a declaration)
- Inspect documentation, wheel size compliance, and decorative tassels
⚓ Ports & River Docks
- Manage cargo offloading, ferry launches, and token inspection
- Monitor for stowaways, talking crates, and unlicensed driftwood
- Stamp all Scrolls of Maritime Declaration with waterproof ink
🏗️ Symbolic Thresholds & Arches
- Maintain ceremonial archways for honored guests and processions
- Light braziers for twilight arrivals
- Enforce the Right of Decorative Crossing, which requires a bow or nod
