“The kingdom may be ruled by crown, but it is remembered by ink.”

The Royal Library of Eyehasseen is a marvel of stone, glass, and spirit—a temple of knowledge, a sanctuary of imagination, and arguably the eighth wonder of the world. Rising from the capital with soaring vaulted domes, gilded scriptwork, and echoing chambers lit by skylights and flame, the Library is both a monument and a mission: to preserve all that is worth remembering.
Its holdings are vast—spanning rare illuminated codices, ancient scrolls, forbidden treatises, scientific manuscripts, and works of art, poetry, and philosophy gathered from every province, expedition, and age of the Realm. It is said that no one has ever read even a tenth of what lies within.
🏛️ The Library’s Structure
The Royal Library is composed of five great halls, connected by spiral staircases, whispering corridors, and scent-marked archways that seem to rearrange themselves depending on the day’s needs.
- The Grand Atrium of Echoing Thought – dome-roofed central entrance with sculptures of the Nine Founding Scholars.
- The Starlit Wing – astronomy, cosmology, and speculative philosophy. Luminous ceilings track real constellations.
- The Spiral Tower of Arts & Letters – home to poetry, literature, and the Rare Folio Vault.
- The Infernal Index – deep basement levels for restricted, dangerous, or deeply strange texts. Access strictly monitored.
- The Gallery of Living Scribes – active transcription and restoration by licensed inkwrights. Visitors may observe (but not interrupt).

📖 Notable Works and Treasures of the Collection
- The First Reckoning Almanac (Year 0) – detailing the founding of the Kingdom in both prose and astrological symbols.
- Codex of A Thousand Tides – an illuminated bestiary of sea spirits and their political affiliations.
- The Unrepeating Book – changes content slightly each time it’s opened; shelved in a rotating case.
- The Lantern Manuscripts – six scrolls bound in silver wire, dictating the lost oral traditions of the Hill Tribes.
- The Gilded Gospels of Serelun – a complete set of illuminated sacred texts created over 73 years.
- Philosophia in Storms – a weather-stained treatise by philosopher Aldrus the Drenched, written entirely during rainfall.
- The Invisible Index – a catalog of books that were once here, then vanished, and are still sought.
🔖 Public Services and Magical Amenities
- Reading Rooms – open to all citizens, lit by enchanted lanterns that glow brighter with curiosity.
- The Living Catalog – an animated index that walks patrons to the section they seek (often with commentary).
- Scroll Scribes for Hire – trained in calligraphy, preservation, and epistolary dueling.
- Book Whisperers – specialists in recovering faint or forgotten text from weathered pages.
- Quiet Bards – musicians trained to perform in near silence, to inspire reflection without distraction.
🗝️ Access and Advisory
Certain sections—such as the Infernal Index, the Scriptorium of Unnamed Sorrows, or the Isle of Forbidden Correspondences—require Ministerial Writ or Royal Permission for access.
Tours are offered daily for visiting scholars and dignitaries. The Library is open to the public on all festival days and on the third moon of every season.
