🎪 Registry of Festival Markets & Traveling Fairs

Ministry of the Exterior | Division of International Commerce
“Wander wide, trade brightly, and leave a little glitter behind.”

📘 Overview

The Registry of Festival Markets & Traveling Fairs is the Kingdom’s official record of seasonal bazaars, celebratory trade gatherings, roaming merriment convoys, and temporary marketgrounds. These are no mere markets—they are events, unfolding with ribbons, lanterns, echoing minstrels, and barter conducted by candlelight or trumpet.

Established in 1966, the Registry tracks, licenses, and sometimes apologizes for festival-based commerce throughout the Realm and beyond. It ensures that every fair, no matter how transient, is remembered and celebrated with proper flair and minimal structural collapse.

🛍️ Officially Recognized Traveling Fairs

🧭 The Lanternroad Exchange

A springtime market that moves from village to village, trading lightcraft, windchimes, and whisper-glass. Vendors follow a path of hanging lanterns, and only accept trades made in soft voices.

🐑 The Woolsong Fair

Tied to the northern shearing season, this festival includes fleece swapping, spinning song duels, and a footrace involving cooperative sheep.

🐉 The Fireberry Revels

Held at dusk during the first harvest moon. Known for its jam tarts, slow-burning fireworks, and relic traders who only speak in rhyme.

🧂 The Salter’s March

A roaming band of spice merchants, storytellers, and traveling tea-brewers. Follows no map but always arrives when least expected and most desired.

🧾 Vendor Participation

Vendors wishing to operate at any traveling fair must register with:

  • A Provisional Stall Sketch
  • A list of intended wares or curios
  • Their preferred tent color and any known allergies to incense
  • One Festival Safety Oath, signed or sung

All stalls must include one decorative item and at least partial shade.

🌈 Festival Customs & Exchange Traditions

  • Ribbon Pricing: Each day begins with ribbon-based pricing. Gold = premium. Frayed = bargain bin.
  • Loud Haggling Hour: Held at mid-day. Encouraged but limited to 15 minutes.
  • Barter By Talent: Common at the Woolsong and Lanternroad fairs. Sing for a sausage, dance for a dirndl.
  • Token Trees: Guests may tie coins or compliments to designated trees for festival luck.
